I am an amateur artist living in Leigh-on-Sea where the Thames meets the sea. I had my first art lesson since school days six years ago and have never looked back. During my 30 years working as a Macmillan nurse, I witnessed at firsthand the magical effect art (and a good teacher/therapist) can have on the mental health of patients and their carers. I feel transported to another place when I paint. I am on a constant journey of discovery and enjoy experimenting with materials and tools and exploring new possibilities. I feel fortunate to live close to both sea and the countryside where there is a constant source of inspiration. I have been an all-year-round sea swimmer for many years and love everything about the water (except the jellyfish, perhaps).
Dee’s husband, Ian, worked for Butcher & Hall Syndicate at Lloyd’s in the 1970s and is an independent chartered loss adjuster.
