Marion’s work is observational, sourcing people, places and objects to form her compositions. She draws prolifically and works in oils and watercolours, and her subject matter is widespread, but probably mainly figures, the built environment and coastal scenes. Portrait and other commissions are welcomed, and she has worked on book illustration. Her work is signed ’tid’ - a family nickname from childhood.
Originally training at Cardiff College of Art, Marion studied also at the Sir John Cass School of Art, the Prince’s Drawing Studio and the Slade summer school, all in London. Over twenty years’ working life in the City gave her a close connection with Lloyd’s of London, where she exhibits annually with the Lloyd’s Art Group, as well as hanging work throughout the year at a nearby wine bar. She shows successfully in local and London galleries, in open exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, regularly with the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery and the Chelsea Art Society, and has held solo exhibitions in UK and Australia. Marion is an exhibiting member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art and of the Armed Forces Art Society and works with many societies in Surrey. She gives demonstrations and teaches workshops locally and opens her studio to visitors within the Surrey Artists Open Studios scheme (details at www.surreyopenstudios.org.uk ).
