Ann Hyde-Harrison

Ann Hyde-Harrison

Ann studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and, as an architect, she spent all her life designing schools. She ended up as Head of Construction Division in the Inner London Education Authority managing ninety professional staff, designing and building new educational buildings and extending, adapting and maintaining existing ones.

The abolition of I.L.E.A. allowed her to retire early, which gave her a chance to spend more time doing batik and, more recently, silk painting, enamelling and making fused glass.

She studied the art of batik under Noel Dyrenforth and has exhibited widely including two exhibitions at Burgh House in Hampstead
