Maxine Fitter

Maxine Fitter studied Illustration at St. Martins school of Art in London and worked for a while in advertising, then as a florist for Constance Spry in Mayfair before marrying Roger ( who was to work in Lloyd’s for 40 years) and having a family.
After taking the EARAC course at N.E. Essex School of Art in 1988/90 she helped set up Cuckoo Farm Artist Studios and Print Workshop in Colchester in 1991. She is still a member of the print workshop.
Maxine continues to find it compulsive to collect information, to draw, paint and recreate in print; either lino cuts for bold images or dry points and colographs for finer details. She utilises the natural world and inanimate objects, observing detail, pattern and colour, extracting the essence of the subjects to achieve a different image.
She regularly exhibits with Colchester Art society and is a committee member, also annually with Lloyd's Art Group in London in London and has had work selected for the SWLA at the Mall Gallery and Eastern Arts Open. In 2015 exhibited with the Southbank Print makers and in 2016 and 2017 with CCF printmakers in the Quay Gallery at Snape Maltings.
