Nicola Osborne
After being involved in teaching art for twenty years, it was time for a change. Now to put all that I have learnt into practice. My stimulus is nature and in particular shape and form in nature. Painting allows me to investigate metaphors involved in natures’s design, strengths and fragility. I am particularly interested in circles and spheres and the examination of washes of colour, transparency and opacity using the circle’s dynamic sense of movement and change as a leap off point. This has accelerated my development into the semi-abstract. I am interested in the more formal qualities of depicting the world around us also and have not totally left the more representational world behind.
Nicola’s husband Peter is Claims Manager at R&Q, her father, Mike Cobb, was a senior broker for numerous firms, including Willis & Stuart Wrightson and her son works for Chesterfield.
