Maxine Fitter

Maxine Fitter studied Illustration at St Martins School of Art in London and, for a while, worked in advertising then because a florist for Constance Spry’s before marrying Roger (who worked in Lloyd’s for 40 years) and having a family. In the last 20 years art has taken over again, with a concentration on the natural world, from plants to water, insects to animals, trying to capture the essence and pattern of ‘things’ around us, noting the dependency everything has on water, as the life giver. Many of her works are in water-based paints, but an ever-increasing number are traditional prints, being lino, dry point monoprints or collographs.

Maxine has had two local solo exhibitions and exhibits regularly with the Colchester Art Society, Colchester’s Cuckoo Farm Printmakers and the Lloyd’s Art Group. This year, 2008, the Eider lino print was elected and hung by the Society of Wildlife Artists for their Autumn Exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.
