Mark Gibbs

Mark creates animal sculptures, mixed media paintings, and watercolours. His work is concerned with the colour and texture of landscape, and the form, and significance of certain animals. The work moves between painting and sculpture, realism and abstraction, myth and reality.

Mark blurs the boundaries between artistic practises so his mixed media paintings are often so built up they become shallow sculptures, while his animal sculptures are often wall mounted and contain painted areas.

Mark has exhibited internationally, in London, and in his adopted home county, Cumbria.

Mark's reindeer sculpture was selected for the 2010 Wildlife Artist of the Year exhibition.
